Reaching the Island

Ferry transportation to Kefalonia:

Starting from Athens, you can take the commuter bus or your car to go to Patras (2.5 hours), or Killini (3.5 hours). Then, from these two ports you can take ferry boat to get to the island of Kefalonia. The itineraries are daily and very frequent during the summer months. From the port of Patra you will reach the port of Sami, after 3.5 hours, while from the port of Killini you will reach the port of Poros, after 1.5 hour. Finally, from Astakos in Aitoloakarnania there is a route by boat to Sami and the trip takes 2.5 hours. Concerning other maritime links, you can go from Argostoli to Lixouri within 20 minutes and you can also visit Ithaca, Zakynthos and Lefkada.

By air:

Kefalonia Airport is located 9 kilometers from the island's capital, Argostoli. The transfer to and from the airport is by taxi, car or bus. The air connection Athens-Kefalonia is available all year round, every day at least once, only that the summer flights are more frequent due to demand. The flight takes about 45 minutes, without stops. In high season, are scheduled flights from other cities of Greece, as well as from abroad via charter flights.
