Focus Group on Human Trafficking under the "TRUTH" Program 14/1/2014

Frontida Zois Ltd in cooperation with the Vice - Mayor of "Support of Citizens Volunteerism, Gender Equality & Inclusion of Immigrants" of Patras, organized a meeting on January 13th 2014, with central topic the educational and training perspectives upon the issue of Human Trafficking, as part of the "TRUTH" European Project. The European project entitled: TRUTH (Training for Raising Awareness and Understanding about the Trafficking of Humans in Europe) is cofunded by the Lifelong Learning Programme (Leonardo Da Vinci - Transfer of Innovation). Involved are five partners from 4 countries (UK, Italy, Romania, Greece). In this partnership Greece is represented by Frontida Zois Ltd.

The scope of the meeting was the creation of a focus group composed of representatives from local authorities and relevant Social bodies, who are active in the areas of detection, prevention and support of victims of the Human Trafficking. The focus group laid the foundations for designing customized educational material in order to train professionals from the field of Social welfare (social workers) and other Social Care specialties in recognizing and battling incidents of human trafficking. The ultimate goal is the improvement of the skills and knowledge on the area of prevention and better treatment of human trafficking victims.

The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere and very interesting opinions were exchanged on the important issue of Human Trafficking and how it affects the region of West Achaia.

The meeting honored with their presence the following organizations: Police Department of Patras-Public Security Office, Department of Social Welfare of Municipality of Patras, Hellenic Red Cross, Women's Counselling Center of Patras, International Organization for Migration, PRAKSIS, Centre for Family and Child Care "Plato", KLIMAKA, The smile of the child.
