Human Trafficking (HT) is a global, national and local issue. HT is also a complex criminal activity. It is a domestic as well as an international crime which contravenes the UN Declaration of Human Rights and other laws. It is a profitable criminal business estimated to be worth over €25 billion per annum globally, and €2 billion per annum in the European sex industry (TIP report, 2012). The TRUTH project will transfer the successfully UK-tested content of the online Human Trafficking Awareness course and will adapt and enrich it following a needs and transferability analysis in partner countries. The updated content will fit the needs (training and country & culturally specific) of the target group (frontline workers in social care).
TRUTH aims:
- To train frontline staff (social care) in a unique and tailored blended learning package outlining and raising awareness of HT in EU
- To put policy into VET training practice by developing the first pan-European online course to raise awareness amongst workers in Social Care in Europe
- To support European organisations with their legal requirements of providing training for frontline workers in HT awareness
Objectives:
- To transfer and adapt an e-course in the awareness of HT from UK to partner countries of RO, EL, IT to workers in social care organisations where they are dealing with people who could be vulnerable/victims of HT
- To pilot the adapted version of 'Human Trafficking Awareness' with relevant target group members in partner countries (UK,RO,EL,IT) using blended methodology
- To develop a European network of VET professionals with interest in developing HT VET courses (especially e learning VET professionals)
- To develop an online European TRUTH Academy for VET Trainers and Professionals Working to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking amongst workers and the community
